Mentees should be unagented authors with complete, polished YA (young adult) and MG (middle grade) manuscripts. All mentors write YA or MG and currently AMM is exclusively focusing on YA & MG manuscripts.
March 1-5, 2019, we will open to submissions. Mentees can choose up to four mentors to submit to.
Matches will be announced by the end of March, and from that point, the mentor/mentee pairs are free to establish the parameters of their relationship.

Mentees will fill out an application, detailing their background, writing interests and aspirations, and which 4 mentors they would like to submit to. Mentors may share strong applications that aren’t a fit for them, but may fit another mentor.
Then, mentees should submit a query, 1-2 page synopsis, & 3 chapters or 50 pages (whichever is longer) of their manuscript to the AMM email.
Incomplete applications will not be considered: you must both fill out the form AND email your query/synopsis/pages.

For the selected mentees, each mentor will provide, at minimum, 1 full manuscript review and 1 query pass, but many of our mentors will be able to offer more, including agent list cultivation, querying, navigating agent offers, submission, etc.
There is no time limit or rules; each mentor and mentee will determine the best steps to be taken with the manuscript, query process, etc.
There will be no agent round, or contest aspect to Author Mentor Match. Instead, AMM focuses on mentorship and querying the perfect agents for each specific project.
