Swati Teerdhala is a YA writer and storyteller who fell into business school. She’s passionately interested in many things — reading, writing, history, good food, candles, the Dallas Cowboys, dumplings, technology and constantly learning. She loves a good movie soundtrack and a hot cup of tea. You can find her on the streets of NYC with a pen, or camera, in hand.

PUBLISHING BACKGROUND
I had written another book before submitting to and being accepted into Author Mentor Match. I worked with my fabulous mentor, Axie Oh, and knocked my second manuscript into shape with the goal of pitching during the Twitter pitch competition, #DVPit. A few weeks after #DVPit, I signed with my amazing agent, Kristin Nelson!

OVERVIEW
I absolutely loved my experience as a mentee in Round 1 of Author Mentor Match, and would love to give back to the community and help mentor someone else.

I’d love a story with a unique voice, strong&complex emotions, deep plots and characters I cannot stop thinking about. Unexpected laughter, secrets, relationship dynamics and strong females (in all sorts of ways). Give me all the feels and action!

WORKING STYLE
My mentor style will be highly collaborative, with a focus on pushing you to make your manuscript the best it can be. My goal is to not only help you polish your manuscript for agents, but to get your prepared to take on the big world of publishing. I’m excited to share the knowledge I’ve picked up and answer any questions you might have. I’d like to build a true relationship with my mentee.

My ideal mentee is someone who is passionate, a hard worker, and always has the perfect GIF ready! I’d also love someone who comes with their own ideas and who I can truly collaborate with. At the end of the day this is YOUR story and I’m just here to help you tell it the best way possible.
