She has a BA in literature/rhetoric from Binghamton University and an MA in television/radio/film from The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Jennie’s debut young adult contemporary novel, WHERE IT ALL LANDS was released in July 2021 by Wednesday Books. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, son, and Havanese puppy. It took me four years to write WHERE IT ALL LANDS, including two years during which I queried on and off. I signed with my agent, Alex Rice, in 2019 and she sold WHERE IT ALL LANDS in three weeks. I am currently back on sub with a second young adult novel, while I draft a third. I am also toying with an idea for an adult novel that I’m hoping to begin drafting in 2022.

I was an AMM Round 8 mentor and I have worked with many CPs on various manuscripts. My longtime CP recently signed with an agent and my Round 8 mentee is receiving full requests. In addition, I majored in English as an undergrad and I have participated in many writing workshops throughout my career.

I had a wonderful experience as an AMM Round 8 mentor last year. I am still in touch with my mentee and rooting her on as she goes through the query process. I am excited to be a mentor again for Round 9 and I am looking forward to reading submissions.

I am looking for a manuscript that is character driven and emotional. I am mentoring for contemporary young adult and I typically prefer stories with a strong romantic element. The romance doesn’t have to be the main plot, but it should be a significant part of the story. I love lyrical prose and strong, snappy dialogue. I am also a sucker for multiple POV, complicated family dynamics, and strong female friendships.

Young Adult

  • Contemporary
  • Romance

Within contemporary young adult, I am drawn to stories with complex characters who are struggling to overcome difficult life circumstances. In terms of the romance, I am usually drawn to stories of first love or friends who develop into something more.

  • Edit Letter (Big Picture developmental feedback)
  • Line edit (dropping notes into a Word Document)
  • Skype or phone call

I will provide a big picture edit letter and line edits. I will work with my mentee to elevate their manuscript until it is ready for querying. I am available for phone calls, email brainstorms, and general pep talks.

I am looking for someone excited to revise their manuscript. I want to work with someone who loves brainstorming and is passionate about about writing.
